DESCRIPTION:The mission of Children’s Church School is to educate a generation of young people about the love of God expressed in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Children learn about the importance of caring for one another just as God cares about us. Children develop their own spirituality and learn about worship through writing their own prayers\, lighting our worship candles\, and learning about elements of worship including the sacraments. DESCRIPTION:WE’RE GOING VIRTUAL\nDUE TO COVID\, A Tartan Christmas at The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York will be virtual this season. A celebration of fellowship and community\, handcrafted to fit your whole family. Peruse right here our handmade crafts\, treat yourself to items from our Silent Auction\, enjoy homemade goodies\, holiday greenery\, and more. In our Auction… amazing experiences\, tickets\, gift certificates\, antiques\, and one of a kinds. Bring the whole family\, Zoom with Santa\, and when you come to pick up your winnings\, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and hang an ornament on our outdoor Christmas Tree. \nShop for holiday greenery and plants\, pies\, baked goods\, chili\, handmade crafts\, gift items\, and the Silent Auction at www.tartanfair.org\, all starting Nov. 1st.  Your child can VISIT WITH SANTA via ZOOM\, on Saturday Dec. 5th\, Join the LIVE AUCTION at 3pm on Dec. 5th\, and then our “Pick-up Party” is on Dec. 6th from 1-3pm.  (Come on Sunday from 1-3pm\, pick up your winnings and purchases on the north lawn \, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa\, add an ornament to the tree\, and enjoy the sounds of Christmas.) \nDonations for the auction are still being accepted.  Goods and services that are Corona Virus safe are most welcome.  Gift certificates\, gift cards\, lessons or services via Zoom\, contact free pick-up and drop-off physical items\, or bring your donations to church and drop off with the front desk 8am-4pm. DESCRIPTION:Thursdays at 8 – 8:20 am\, December 3\, 10\, 17 \nAre you having trouble putting your prayers into words? Have you ever wondered about different kinds of prayers that the pastors write each week? Would you like to be strengthened and comfort your spirit during Advent? Join Barbara for this short virtual prayer writing time while you prepare to start your day. Each session will begin with a short reading of an Advent prayer\, text or hymn. Participants will then be invited with writing prompts to write their own prayers based on the themes of patience\, journey\, and hope. We offer prayers\, sing our praises to God\, and prepare ourselves to be servants of Christ in the world beyond the church doors. \nOur traditional Reformed Presbyterian liturgy speaks of “gathering\, hearing the Word\, responding to the Word\, and sending.” At First Church\, we offer a gracious and inclusive liturgy\, meaningful and thought-provoking sermons that relate to issues and challenges in modern discipleship\, and music that evokes wonder and praise. Our worship style might be called “lively traditional.” \nWhen you worship with us\, you will be welcomed into our architecturally beautiful sanctuary where a sense of the Holy is present through stunning music\, excellent preaching and a diverse and engaged congregation. We celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of every month and on significant liturgical days in the Church calendar.
