If you don’t have time to read\, but still want to learn\, please join the Book Discussions (and consider listening to a podcast with author Clint Smith).\n\n\nEmail Emily Brewer (ebrewer@fpcnyc.org) for Zoom link or other information.\n\n\n\n\nJuly 26th and August 23rd:\n\n\nJoin in the Congregational Read this summer as we read How the Word is Passed: A Reckoning With the History of Slavery Across America by Clint Smith. The book is widely available\, and a few copies will be at the front desk of the church to borrow. \n\n\nWhat: Virtual discussions moderated by Suzanne Mecs and LouAnne Gilleland \nWhen: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. (July 26th linked here and August 23rd linked here)\nWhere: Zoom\nFor folks who:\n\n\nHave read part or all of How the Word is Passed\nHave listened to a podcast with the author\nWho haven’t read or have never even heard of the book but want to learn more about the history of slavery in the United States and what it means for us today\n\n\n\nOptional Group Reading sessions will take place the week before the Book Discussions on July 14th and August 17th if you’re someone who would like to build community while reading or likes a little external accountability to read. \n\n \n\nRSVP for Book Discussions with Suzanne Mecs (sdhmecs@yahoo.com)
