Service to Honor LGBTQ+ Community Followed by Distribution of Water to Pride March
The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York (First Church) is proud to announce its annual Pride Sunday service, taking place on June 25th, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary located at 12 W 12th Street. The service is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and a demonstration of the church’s support for equality and diversity.
The service will include music, prayer, and a sermon delivered by Reverend Dr. Barbara Davis. Reverend Davis, who is the Executive Minister and has been a part of First Presbyterian Church ministry for 25 years, is a staunch advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has been instrumental in promoting equality within the church and the wider community.
Following the service, church members will gather outside to distribute water to participants in the Pride march, which will be passing by in front of the church on 5th Avenue. This act of kindness is a cherished tradition of the church’s ongoing commitment to supporting, affirming, and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community.
First Church has engaged in advocacy of various social inequities across the years and are proud to be called home by a diverse staff and community beyond.
